Founded in 2016 by Melissa Jenkinson, Heirloom Studio is a multi-faceted practice specialising in residential interior architecture & design, sourcing unique curated furniture and curiosities. Born and raised in the Caribbean, Melissa spent her childhood relatively isolated, immersed in lush tropical landscapes and white beaches. She was later educated in the UK where she completed a foundation course in Art from the Wimbledon College of Arts, a BA Honors degree in Archaeology from the University of Newcastle and then went on to train in Interior Architecture & Design at the prestigious KLC School of Interior Design in London.
Immediately after graduating from KLC, Melissa was fortunate to obtain an internship with one of the worlds leading Interior Designer's, Vicente Wolf of Vicente Wolf Associates in New York. She eventually moved back to the UK where she worked as the senior designer for the award winning interior design firm Cloud Design Studios - "Elle Decoration Britain's Best Designers 2015".
With her roots firmly planted in Caribbean culture and her aesthetic cultivated from her time spent in Europe and the US, it is these very contrasting worlds that have shaped her unique and eclectic style. Ultimately Heirloom Studio is a cultivation of mixed identities producing a refined yet eclectic sense of aesthetic through intelligent and creative design.
"I love the juxapostition of old and new, traditional and contemporary, the obvious and the unexpected. It's not just about bringing a place to life, it's about giving it a soul."
